Domestic Infant Adoption

Adopting a newborn, also known as infant adoption, takes place in the United States when both biological parents choose to give up their rights. Parents can decide to parent their child up until the time they legally end their parental rights in court.

To begin the infant adoption process, you will need to choose a licensed private adoption agency that works with birthparents to complete a home study. If you know of a family who is creating an adoption plan, you may complete an independent adoption. But in either case, you still need to have a home study completed through a licensed agency.
